This story broke my heart for the little girl in the background. I can’t imagine what that did to her self-esteem & not being able to take credit for her efforts must’ve been just as painful. :-(

BEIJING —  A 7-year-old Chinese girl was not good-looking enough for the Olympics opening ceremony, so another little girl with a pixie smile lip-synced “Ode to the Motherland,” a ceremony official said — the latest example of the lengths Beijing took for a perfect start to the Summer Games.

  • That is so so sad. :( What were they honestly thinking?! It’s quite cruel really.

  • It is China. They are a communist country. Am I the only person not surprised that something like this happened? Come on…its China!

  • The girl is quite pretty, are they blind?
    Every child is pretty with his/her pureness.

    But it really is China .. I’m pretty sure they didn’t give even a chance for her or her family to quit the singing.

    At least we’ll remember her face, that’s something.
